Quantum dot and MicroLED pioneer Nanosys secures over $50M in growth capital financing

(Fremont, California), a globally active digital security and identification leader in the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the successful completion of the pilot launch of its near field communication (NFC)-enabled smart packaging for OTACA Tequila. With over 5000 bottles of tequila successfully digitised during the pilot launch, OTACA plans to ramp its production plans with Identiv to an additional 50 000 bottles of Reposado tequila in the first quarter of 2023.

Rice University: Strain-sensing smart skin ready to deploy

A strain-sensing smart skin developed at Rice University (Houston, Texas) that uses very small structures, carbon nanotubes, to monitor and detect damage in large structures is ready for prime time. The “strain paint” first revealed by Rice in 2012 uses the fluorescent properties of nanotubes to show when a surface has been deformed by stress.
