VTT launches an incubator to accelerate industrial renewal

 

The VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland launches a deep-tech incubator to create game-changing start-ups with strong scientific foundation. VTT LaunchPad brings solutions to life at accelerated rate by bringing together VTT-based research and the best business minds.

"VTT is the home of many of the most successful Finnish technology start-ups such as Dispelix, Spectral Engine, Spinnova, Paptic and Solar Foods. The new incubator builds on VTT's research and spinoff expertise. It aims at bringing VTT's research teams together with entrepreneurs and investors to renew industries," says Antti Vasara, CEO of VTT.

"Now we are taking the next step up in accelerating innovation process. To succeed, we are raising the ambition level and involve entrepreneurs early on," Antti Vasara continues. VTT is hiring a manager to set up and run the incubator.

"We are looking for a passionate person to start up the incubator. This is a concrete opportunity to create ambitious growth opportunities in Finland. The incubator builds on expertise of 1400 researchers and a strong network of industrial partners," adds Katri Kallio, head of strategy at VTT.

In addition, the new incubator invites tech-savvy entrepreneurs to join the research teams as entrepreneurs in residence, and it is looking for experienced mentors to support the science-driven entrepreneurship.
