Jabil recognised as philanthropic corporation of the year

Jabil (St. Petersburg, Florida) recently received recognition as Philanthropic Corporation of the Year by the Tampa Bay chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Johns Hopkins All Children’s Foundation and the American Heart Association nominated Jabil for the philanthropic work that the global manufacturing company does in the Tampa Bay community.

National Philanthropy Day was begun in 1986 to “celebrate the extraordinary change that fundraising and philanthropy have helped to create in our world” according to the AFP. Throughout the month of November, the professional association highlights honourees from National Philanthropy Day chapter events around the world, showcasing outstanding donors, volunteers, corporations, foundations and others who are being recognised for their commitment to change and philanthropy.

“Jabil’s philanthropic focus areas are education, empowerment and the environment, and our employees proudly give back from more than 100 global sites where Jabil operates,” said Beth Walters, Jabil’s senior vice president of Culture, Community & Employee Engagement. “Jabil Cares, our employee volunteer programme, creates meaningful opportunities to get involved and bring positive change to those in need. In fact we have a goal to give back two million volunteer hours by the end of 2020. While it is certainly an honour to receive this award, we’re even more excited to continue to build on our success to make the Tampa Bay community a better place.”

Specific to the Tampa Bay area, Jabil established the Jabil Center for Behavioral Health Fund at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital to help address youth mental health solutions. Jabil employees participate in the American Heart Association’s annual walk to raise money and bring awareness to cardiovascular diseases and living a heart-healthy lifestyle. In addition, Jabil works closely with the area’s local national sports franchises (Buccaneers, Rays and Lightning) on community programmes, as well as the Pinellas Education Foundation, Tampa Bay Watch and other organisations.

Jabil is a manufacturing solutions provider that delivers comprehensive design, manufacturing, supply chain and product management services. Leveraging the power of over 200 000 people across 100 sites strategically located around the world, Jabil simplifies complexity and delivers value in a broad range of industries, enabling innovation, growth and customer success.
