Japanese companies unite to advance OLED display technology

The Japanese technology companies Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan Display Inc. (JDI), Sony Corporation and Panasonic Corporation recently announced that they have executed a definitive agreement to establish a new company named JOLED Inc. to integrate Sony and Panasonic's R&D functions for OLED display panels. Through this collaboration, the companies aim to accelerate the development and early commercialisation of OLED display panels. JOLED is scheduled to be launched in January 2015, subject to receipt of any necessary approvals.

LG Display unveils 18“ flexible and transparent OLED panel

LG Display, a producer of display technologies based in South Korea, recently announced that it has developed a 18-inch flexible OLED panel that is rollable as well as a 18-inch transparent OLED panel. With these new panels the company wants to show that it has already acquired fundamental technologies to lead the large-sized flexible and transparent display market.

Plastic Logic, a UK based producer of printed electronics solutions, will use the SID Display Week (1-6 June 2014 in San Diego) to present the world’s first fully organic flexible OLED display prototype.
