Henkel and Holst Centre continue collaboration

 

Henkel (Düsseldorf, Germany) and Holst Centre, located at High tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands, continue their long-term collaboration, which focuses on developments related to health patch technologies and products.

“We’ve enjoyed a long and highly rewarding relationship with Holst Centre, so it’s great to know we’ll be continuing to work together for another term,” said Dr Gunther Dreezen, director product development at Henkel Electronic Materials. “Our collaboration affords us close contact with other Holst Centre partners, who cover the spectrum of the value chain. This provides unique opportunities for research cross-pollination and gives us a better understanding of potential markets, helping us to develop solutions that fulfill people’s real needs.”

The collaboration has already led to significant developments in electrode technology and interconnection materials. For example, the partners have developed an innovative, high-performance dry electrode that could replace the familiar gel electrode in medical monitoring and diagnostic applications. During the next period of the collaboration, the partners aim to further optimise the new electrode and incorporate it into health patch devices.

The partnership will also look at developing a set of materials that could enable health patches to be worn on the body for a long time. The aim is to make health patches wearable for several days, without discomfort or loss of product functionality.
