HeliaFilm meets steel elements from Hoesch Bausysteme

With the successful installation of a solar-active pilot façade, Heliatek GmbH from Dresden, Germany, and Hoesch Bausysteme GmbH (Kreuztal, Germany) show a first application of their joint product development. At the installation, the organic solar film HeliaFilm was integrated into the siding elements of Hoesch.

The pilot façade is located at the company site of Hoesch in Kreuztal. On a surface of about 35m2, 40 siding elements with integrated, 2m long HeliaFilm were built. The siding elements are multi-purpose steel façade elements, which are used for curtained, rear-ventilated façade systems.

It was the aim of the joint product development to integrate organic solar films into façade elements. This does not only entail the process development, but also the application under real operational conditions. The installation serves as test object in the framework of the federally funded project “PVme” (organic photovoltaic systems integrated in prefab elements).

Together with Hoesch Bausysteme, Heliatek drives forward the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for construction. The reduction of emissions and the lowering of energy consumption of buildings are challenges that have to be addressed by the construction sector. In the future, high-quality, solar-active façade systems will be able to generate energy within the building cover in a decentral and environmentally-friendly manner.
